About Tirzepatide

Tirzepatide — sold as Mounjaro (for diabetes) and Zepbound (for weight loss), both made by Eli Lilly — is the newest and, so far, the most potent medicine in the GLP-1 family. It is a 'dual agonist': it acts on two gut-hormone pathways (GIP and GLP-1) rather than one, which tends to produce greater blood-sugar improvement and more weight loss than semaglutide (Ozempic). It is a once-weekly injection, and it has generated enormous demand in Nigeria, largely as a weight-loss treatment.
