About Amitriptyline
Amitriptyline is a tricyclic antidepressant, one of the oldest classes of antidepressant still in regular use. It increases the levels of noradrenaline and serotonin in the brain by blocking their reuptake, and it also blocks a range of other receptors — which is both why it has so many side effects and why it is useful for so many different problems.
