About Atorvastatin

Atorvastatin is the most widely used member of the statin family — the group of medicines that lower cholesterol — and it is by far the most commonly prescribed cholesterol drug in Nigeria. As Nigerians increasingly live with obesity, type-2 diabetes, and high blood pressure, high cholesterol (dyslipidaemia) has become a major driver of heart attacks and strokes, and atorvastatin sits at the centre of how doctors manage that risk.
