About Liraglutide
Liraglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist — the older, longer-established cousin of semaglutide (Ozempic). Made by Novo Nordisk, it is sold as Victoza, licensed for type-2 diabetes, and as Saxenda, licensed for weight management. Unlike the weekly semaglutide injections, liraglutide is injected once every day. It lowers blood sugar and reduces appetite, and it has a longer track record than the newer GLP-1s.
