About Ampicillin + Cloxacillin
Ampicillin plus cloxacillin is a fixed combination of two penicillin antibiotics, and in Nigeria it is one of the most recognised medicines on the market under the name Ampiclox. Ampicillin covers a broad range of bacteria including many gram-negatives; cloxacillin is specifically resistant to the penicillinase enzyme that Staphylococcus aureus uses to destroy ordinary penicillin. The idea of the combination is to cover both at once.
