About Trihexyphenidyl
Trihexyphenidyl — known throughout Nigeria as benzhexol, and abroad as Artane — is an anticholinergic that restores the balance between two chemical signals in the brain's movement circuits. When dopamine activity falls, acetylcholine activity becomes relatively dominant, and the result is tremor, muscle stiffness and slowness. Blocking some of that acetylcholine signal restores the balance and the movements ease.
